    About the standard

Control Union Certificates offers SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) audits, a method developed by the Sedex multi-sector initiative. The aim of SMETA is to align social auditing standards and monitoring practices, making the process easier for suppliers, promoting the sharing of reports and encouraging continuous improvements in working conditions throughout the supply chain.

SMETA 2-Pillar audits follow the principles established in the ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) Base Code, addressing aspects such as labor rights, occupational health and safety. SMETA 4-Pillar audits expand this scope, incorporating additional criteria related to environmental management and ethical business practices. The reports can be shared via the Sedex database, according to the requirements of each client.
